Hi. I saw “First Day of Spring” in Southwest Art Magaine and love it. Immediately puts me in my car taking a casual drive through many small towns in northern Wisconsin. Do you sell prints of your paintings? Keep up the great work and have a wonderful day.

Bill — We met today at the ice cream shop in Charles Town. Went home and climbed onto your website. So many neat pieces, especially enjoyed your figure studies and lifework. — Rob

  3. Hi Rob,

Thanks. Don’t forget to share some of your work via email please. I’m really looking forward to seeing those political cartoons.

hello old friend, this is Erin from Oakridge in Simi. I was just thinking about you and your beautiful art. I hope you are well and continuing to make amazing things!

    • Hi Erin,
What a pleasant surprise. How are your children doing? I am still painting and sculpting and going to gym 6 days a week. Our daughter is now living in Bel Air and working as a cardiologist at Cedars Sinai. Her husband is a radiologist there. A big source of pride for us as well as medical resource.

Are you still working? Living in Simi Valley? We have lived in Florence AZ for past 13 years.

So glad to hear back! We’re all well. I’m teaching classes at the Park & Rec in Simi. My daughter is a teacher and my son is a chef. Sounds like we both have children to be proud of! Glad to hear you’re still painting.

      • We are both fortunate to have children who make us proud. I think it is cool your son is following his father’s profession. You all must have some very tasty meals. What is your daughter teaching? I wonder if the home schooling influenced her decision to teach. Teachers mostly do not get the recognition or pay that they deserve. In Arizona teacher pay is horrible. The school system here sucks. But, interestingly, I read yesterday the number 1 high school in the country is in Arizona. This is according to US News and World Report. I was expecting it to be an expensive private school so I looked it up and it is a public school with no tuition. The schools are called BASIS schools and they use the BASIS curriculum whatever that is. This gives me a little hope about the future of education in the US.

Yesterday I also read in the Wall Street Journal a billionaire was involved in a new school concept where students are taught by AI. There may be class monitors who are not necessarily credentialed teachers. The academic teaching by AI is only done for two hours a day. Then AI may suggest hobbies or projects for students to do the rest of the day. It is being promoted that two hours of AI is more effective than normal school day with teachers. I guess it is possible. It will be interesting to see the results.

I’m sorry I disappeared, I meant to reply quickly but my ill father took a turn for the worse & I was called away. He passed last week. It’s been quite busy making arrangements with his wife (#3) and my siblings & half siblings… I’m the oldest. All seems to be settled.

Anyway… my daughter is at a private school. She’s very happy there. She teaches history and English. Which made her grandpa proud! He was a history buff. My sister is a retired history teacher, so it’s almost a family profession. I taught history to the homeschoolers, too.

My son is honing his skills and hopes to promote to chef. He loves experimenting and trying new things, just like his Dad. Although my husband does it as a hobby now. He’s the IT director for a large financial company.

        Be well, Erin

      • This communication via blog is confusing. I haven’t used blog for years and have forgotten how to navigate. It would be easier just to use email if that is ok with you. wrjones47@gmail.com

Very sorry for your loss. Losing a parent at any age of either parent or child is a painful experience. Even if the parent had no control or advice for an adult child, their passing can cause a feeling of missing a line of security in life.

Did your son develop any interest in internet employment like his father?

I read an article today about the potential disaster of using AI or, A1 as the secretary of education calls it, as the principal learning tool for primary school. A small study (around 50 students I think) showed that AI learners showed diminished ability to reason, write original material, solve problems, etc vs students with classical training.

We will find out because it is going to happen on a large scale if for no other reason than administrators will think they are saving money. I’m not sure if this reply will get to you. Hope so, Bill
